Identification
We ascertain the value of the estate by identifying the deceased’s assets (such as a house, money or shares) and debts. We obtain valuations, deal with creditors and secure and protect any at-risk estate assets. We aim always to ensure that the best potential value is realised.
Preparation & Distribution
- We may need to prepare an HM Revenue & Customs account for tax purposes depending on the circumstances.
- We complete income tax returns for the deceased, as well as inheritance tax forms. Following which an application is made for the document that appoints the personal representative, the grant of letters of administration.
- We collect in the assets, pay any debts, prepare final accounts, conduct bankruptcy searches and calculate the correct distribution.
- We will also advise on insurance questions, and where appropriate obtain missing beneficiary indemnity insurance.
